VLTOR SCAR STOCK ADAPTER
This Vltor SCAR Receiver Extension Stock Adapter is a drop-in, non-folding replacement part for the standard FN SCAR 16S or 17S factory buttstock assembly. This machined aluminum FN SCAR adapter provides a rigid platform onto which any mil-spec diameter collapsible AR-15 stock may be installed. This results in an enormous amount of options from which the shooter may choose in order to personalize the rifle to his or her individual specifications.
FN SCAR STOCK ADAPTER | VLTOR SCAR STOCK ADAPTER
The Vltor SCAR stock adapter features 6 different length of pull positions. The Stock adapter can be adjusted up and down to alter comb height for use with different sighting arrangements. Unlike the OEM stock it replaces, the VLTOR SCAR adapter incorporates a generous, o-ring sealed storage compartment inside the hollow extension tube with room to carry batteries, cleaning supplies and/or small spare parts.
For shooters who don’t use or feel the need for the side-folding capability of the factory supplied SCAR buttstock, the Vltor adapter is an excellent way to increase the gun’s modularity by outfitting it with the ability to accept many of the different AR-15 collapsible stocks on the market.
The VLTOR SCAR STOCK ADAPTER comes complete with a pair of quick detach sling swivel sockets (one on each side of the adapter block).

VLTOR SCAR STOCK ADAPTER INSTRUCTIONS
Installation of the VLTOR SCAR AR-15 stock adapter is simple, with no permanent alterations to the host rifle required.
Simply remove the factory FN SCAR stock and slide the aluminum Vltor adapter block into the receiver. Next slide the male dovetail of the receiver extension tube in from the top to engage the female dovetail of the adapter block. Finally sdjust the extension tube up or down until the desired position is obtained. Use a bullet tip or other similar tool to tighten the large locking screw on the adapter’s side to secure the tube to that location.
A Mil-Spec diameter collapsible AR-15 stock may then be installed on the extension tube in the normal fashion.
NOTE: This SCAR stock adapter is the Commercial variant, and fits Semi-Auto FN SCAR 16S (Light) and 17S (Heavy) rifles ONLY. Not compatible with select fire SCAR rifles.

Today it’s no small feat to introduce a completely new weapon platform and have it succeed in a land dominated by the AR15 and to a lesser degree the AR-10 and 308AR. FN has managed to do just that with the FN SCAR platform. While the FN SCAR might not be as modular as the at aforementioned AR-15, AR-10 and 308AR the after market upgrades from FN as well as third party sources are a testament of the platforms success. To that end FN is offering three different SCAR BARREL ASSEMBLY upgrades.

SCAR TRIGGER GEISSELE AUTOMATICS: The FN SCAR16s, and FN SCAR17s have become commercial successes. Commercial success is no small feat in an AR15 dominant country. One of the way’s I judge the FN SCAR platform as a commercial success is the availability of aftermarket parts beyond niche manufacturers. When you see companies like Geissele Automatics who dominate the top tier lever AR15, AR10, 308AR triggers now producing SCAR Triggers and selling them at Brownells and the other usual sources, it’s time to pay attention. Unfortunately state laws prohibit me from owning a SCAR.
Geissele Super Scar Trigger
The Super SCAR Trigger by Geissele is a two-stage, semi-auto only, drop-in replacement trigger. The Super SCAR gives a clean and crisp 4-1/2 lb total trigger pull comprised of a 2-1/2 lb first stage followed by a 2 lb second stage. All components are black oxide coated to provide outstanding corrosion protection. The trigger kit comes complete with all parts, springs, lubricants and installation instructions necessary to install in any SCAR 16s or 17s.
SPECS: The Geissele SCAR has a total pull weight of about 4.5lbs – 2.5lbs on the first stage and 2lbs on the second stage. The pull weight and sear engagement are not adjustable by the shooter.
The Geissele Super SCAR trigger is a semi-automatic trigger that Geissele has developed as a retrofit for the FN SCAR 16 and FN SCAR 17. The Geissele Super SCAR trigger is designed to only fit into the standard polymer trigger housing manufactured by FN. The SCAR trigger is a non-adjustable, two-stage trigger but it is not a Match trigger. The Geissele SCAR trigger is ideally suited for Close Quarters Battle (CQB) and mid-range work. Comes with Aeroshell #6 Lubricant.
Note: The Geissele Super Scar trigger is designed to fit into the standard FN factory polymer trigger housing ONLY.

FN SCAR 16s
May 23, 2009
FN SCAR16s Picatinney Damage – I received an email with images from my friend Jim who was completely disappointed with the condition his brand new $3000 FN SCAR 16s arrived from the factory. Apparently when FN builds the SCAR16s rifle they attach an accelerometer to the picatinny rail for the purpose of measuring and qualifying the SCAR bolt cyclic rate. It appears that on Jim’s specimen SCAR the accelerometer was not properly installed which resulted in the hard coat and anodizing being scuffed and removed to bare aluminum in several locations along the picatinny rail. This is more than a simple cosmetic issue. The anodizing and hard coat protects the aluminum from oxidation and galvanic corrosion which in turn protects the FN SCAR16s and devices that utilize the picatinny rail.
Jim was quick to get a call into FN who admitted they had heard of this issue on other SCARS but had not seen it until Jim’s images. FN agreed to rectify the situation at once.
Update: FN decided they would not resolve this for Jim. Probably were concerned with a flood of FN SCAR16s owners looking for similar treatment. In a recent informal poll online it was about a 50/50 split whether this blemish was something to be concerned with or not. Some SCAR owners feel that the rail would like like that after installing an optic mount anyhow so it was no big deal. Well I see it the same as Jim with this rifle. If I spend $3000 for any gun I expect it to be flawless from the factory. If the picatinny rail gets chewed up from an optic I install that’s different and my choice. I expect better from FN.
